Under the orders of its patron Fatos Nano, the socialist government is making every effort to silence the opposition, but without achieving that goal. Thousands upon thousands of Albanians are responding to the PD’s call for strong peaceful protests against Fatos Nano’s government and his coup d’état. This wave of anger has also been joined by hundreds of Democrats in Shkodër, Korçë and Kavajë, where from the podiums of the rallies senior leaders of the Democratic Party called on the Albanian people to rise up in order to defend at all costs their freedom and their future.
Speaking on behalf of the chairman of the Democratic Party, Mr. Sali Berisha, the PD Parliamentary Group deputy in Shkodër, Ali Spahia, stated before hundreds upon hundreds of protesters that Albania is seriously at risk. “Nano is trying to silence the opposition, with the aim of totally seizing state institutions,” said Mr. Spahia. In Korçë, deputy Blerim Çela said that Fatos Nano’s government is leading the country toward the abyss. The vote we had forgotten

Perhaps today, in the ninth month of socialist rule followed by Fino’s government, it is appropriate for Albanian democracy to take another look at the vote by which it came to power. This becomes a necessity especially in the days we are going through, when everything is being overturned to the detriment of the country’s future. In a situation where freedom of the press, of speech, of assembly and of political organization are being seriously threatened, the memory of the vote is also a memory of lost hope.
The vote was a promise of change. It was supposed to return the state to the citizen, law to justice, and trust to institutions. But what is happening today is the opposite: Fatos Nano’s government is appearing as an effort to control everything, to weaken the opposition and to close off every space of freedom. Thus, the vote we had forgotten returns to us as a reminder of a great civic responsibility.
There can be no democracy without an opposition and there can be no rule of law without respect for institutions. Whoever silences the opposition is, in fact, silencing the people. That is why civic reaction today is essential. The vote is not only an act of the past; it is an obligation for today and tomorrow.

PDSh denounces the country: A shameful act of violated justice
After the appeal complaint, the Tirana District Court, in a special session, changed yesterday’s arbitrary decision regarding the head of the Order of Telecommunications. In yesterday morning’s session, the District Court had imposed house arrest and a heavy fine on the senior official, who according to the opposition had been punished for political reasons. In the late afternoon, after strong interventions from legal opinion and public pressure, the decision was reconsidered.
By denouncing this event, PDSh describes it as a shameful act of violation of justice and political arbitrariness. According to its statement, this shows that Albanian justice is under pressure and that institutions are being used for political purposes. PDSh calls on public opinion and international actors to react to these practices.
Secret errands from Prime Minister Nano for the head of Telekom
According to sources, a special order has been conveyed from Prime Minister Nano’s office regarding the handling of the case of the head of Telekom. This intervention, according to the opposition, aims to cover up political and administrative responsibilities, while subscribers are being robbed of payments, masks [?]. The case is seen as further proof of the crisis in state administration and the lack of transparency.
